Coilovers for Daily Driving: The Pros and Cons

Coilovers are a great way to improve the handling of your car, but they might not be the best choice for daily driving. In this blog post, we will discuss the pros and cons of using coilovers for daily driving. We will also provide some tips on how to get the most out of your coilovers without compromising safety or comfort.

To improve handling, coilovers offer adjustable spring rates and damping, which means that you can dial in the perfect ride for your driving needs. Coilovers also tend to be lighter than stock suspension setups, which is always nice.

Here are my friends Mike and Emily installing some coilovers on his Corolla Drift car.

However, coilovers have some drawbacks that you should consider before making the switch. First, coilovers are generally more expensive than stock suspension setups. Second, coilovers can make your ride less comfortable on rough roads. Finally, coilovers can decrease ground clearance, which could lead to problems when driving on unpaved roads or in deep snow. If you're more interested in going fast than driving in snow, you know what to do.

If you decide to use coilovers for daily driving, there are a few things you can do:

- Use a softer spring rate for daily driving. This will make your ride more comfortable without sacrificing too much performance.

- Adjust the damper settings to match the conditions of the road. Softer settings will be better for smooth roads, while firmer settings are better for rough roads.

- Use coilovers with adjustable height so that you can raise or lower your car as needed. This way, you can avoid scraping on speed bumps or in parking lots. Or if you just want to be a slammed badass, you can do that too.
